The mosque that dominates the view of Bandar Seri Begawan City symbolizes the splendor and glory of Islam which is the majority religion and the official religion of the country.

The most prominent characteristic of the mosque building in the form of a single unit is the marble tower and the pure gold-plated dome section. Almost all of the building materials of this mosque were imported from abroad, such as marble from Italy, granite from Shanghai, crystal lamps from England, and carpets from Saudi Arabia.
