ALMIRA Stares at the ring held by her mother. The two rings are no different, but there is one that distinguishes from the two rings is the presence of the ring gemstone. The ring held by Mother Melinda is a small gemstone and the one that Almira wears is none of her gemstones.
"Is that the ring of this pair of rings Mah?" Melinda's mother nodded her head.
"This ring is deliberately kept because of the promise that has been agreed with your Papah first."
"Promise how Mama meant?" Melinda's mother stared at the dresser again and she began to ponder something.
Almira was still waiting for her mother to answer her questions.
"Mamah first met your Papah, when Mamah first entered campus. Mamah had never dated anyone from elementary school to high school. When Mamah entered the faculty at the university, on the first day of entering Mamah had met your Papah. Your papah looked at Mamah and Mamah too. We stared at each other for a long time and we ended up throwing our faces away in shame." Mother Melinda's words stopped and Almira still faithfully listened to her mother tell her stories again.
"Day changed Sunday and after one month we had classes in one room. Finally Restu approached Mamah and tried to familiarize himself. More and more familiar days, until one day Restu invited Mamah to dinner at a fancy restaurant. Never once thought by Mamah that Restu would declare his love to Mamah."
"Then did Mamah receive her???" Almira asked quickly and her mother nodded her head.
"Mamah accepted it because Mamah also liked Restu. After that Restu gave Mamah this ring and paired her sweet finger Mamah. Then Mamah also put the ring you wear to your Papah ring finger. That's when we promised each other to keep this ring even though we were not a match or until death separated us. So no matter how much Mamah hates your Papah, Mamah still holds the commitment not to betray our lifelong promise. But now that Restu has given this ring to you, it means that now this ring will be given to you." Melinda's mother gave the ring to Almira along with her box.
Almira accepts her and unknowingly tears her eyes drip. Melinda's mother also felt sad to see her child shed her tears. And Almira said,
"So now this ring belongs to Almira Mah?" Melinda's mother nodded her head and said.
"Keep well the ring, son. Make the ring a dowry at your wedding with Da..." Melinda's mother's words stopped because she felt unworthy to say David's name.
"David meant Mamah?"
"Eh. Yeah, baby." Said Melinda's mother. In the heart of Mother Melinda, she was,
'Why would I feel so sincere if David would marry my own son?' Melinda's mother seems worried about her relationship with David.
On the one hand he needs love and affection from David. Melinda's mother needs a caress of affection from David because David is able to treat her tired Jamani and her Spiritual Mother Melinda. On the one hand, Melinda's mother felt sorry for Almira because she had been having an affair with David all along. That worry made Mother Almira daydream again and Almira immediately reprimanded her.
"Why dream?"
"No, what time is it?" Ask Melinda's Mom.
"It's only half-time eight nights Mah." Almira replied as she stared at the clockwork in the room.
"Good Mom." Said Almira and now she's out of her mother's room.
Melinda's mother immediately put on her nightgown clothes and after dressing up her perfunctory style, she exited the room towards the dining room table. There Almira was waiting for his Mamah to come and the dishes for dinner were prepared by the housemaids. Now Almira and Melinda's mother have dinner and they continue to talk again about her ex-husband, Melinda and her father, Almira.
"So your Papah said anything to you when he came here?" Mother Melinda and Almira asked.
"She only asked about my school and just let go of the longing."
"Is that all?" Almira nodded while saying,
"The father said, Today he will go to America and will settle there with his family."
"Good." Say Mother Melinda flat only.
"Why is it good, Mah?" Tanya Almira was curious.
"Good because your Papah will not disturb our peace of life anymore."
"Ahh Mamah still hates Papah. Huh!" Said Almira snorting poutfully.
"Hurry up for dinner, tomorrow you have to go to Mira's college. Your lecturer will definitely call Mamah again about your health."
"Yes Mama." Almira said still a bit pouting.
At half-nine they finished eating and when Almira ate a banana dessert, Almira was nauseous and vomited up her stomach contents.
"Almira!? Why are you, son...???" Mother Melinda asked frantically and at that moment the maids were all summoned by Mother Melinda. Almira immediately put on a tisue to wipe her lips and Mother Melinda scolded the maids for inserting something to eat because it made Almira vomit.
"It's Mah enough, they're innocent. Almira's nauseous like this because of the banana that Almira's gonna eat this." Melinda's mother frowned at her strange mark on Almira.
The servants there were staring at Almira who was still a little nauseous. For a woman who has given birth, surely they understand the characteristics of vomiting they experience when in early pregnancy. The three maids and Melinda's own mother had been able to guess that Almira vomited like that not because of allergies or colds, but because of the early contractions of the pregnancy period.
"Almira don't-don't you..." Said Melinda's mother not continuing her speech.
"What does the word mama mean?" Tanya Almira did not understand and Almira immediately drank water but nausea again. This time not to spit out his stomach contents because it had previously drained all of them. The maids were cleaning up the vomit and Almira said goodbye to her mother to enter the room. Almira says she is sleepy and Melinda's mother is silent about letting her son go.
