Jasper's calm tone echoed from the other end of the phone.
"I thought you called to beg for mercy. I thought you'd call to ask for an easier, less painful death, but it looks like I misunderstood."
lan was angry and growling. "Don't think that I'd be afraid of you right now just because you did something in Harbor City, Jasper. I've seen this trick before. Do you think they'll stop me?"
"Of course not."
Jasper's tone was filled with a deeper intention.
"It would be too easy if I killed you all at once. That would be too painful, wouldn't it? I'd love to play with you slowly."
lan sneered. "So it's really you!"
"I know you called me to find out directly from me, but I never had any intention of hiding it from you. I'll come find you at your house even if you don't call me. It's only a matter of time before you know, so you better ask me directly."
lan was stunned and she immediately understood. He asked Jasper coldly, "Seeking me in my house? What do you mean?!"
Sitting on the rooftop bar on the 14th floor of the Peninsula Hotel in Waterhoof City, Jasper gazed at the tranquil Harpoon River under his feet and the bright Pearl Tower on the opposite bank of the river. She laughs. "I don't think I need to explain what I mean to make you understand, hmm?"
"I'm still a guest here, Mr. Hull, so I have to cut our conversation. But tell your driver to drive a little slower and more steady on the way back from Suesville, Mr. Hull. It's a pity that you died in a car accident and missed the big show I made for you."
Jasper hung up the phone and stood up to walk towards the entrance of the rooftop bar, approaching the man who entered with John.
"This is Jasper Laine, the friend I was talking to you about, Vita. The youngest millionaire entrepreneur in our country," John introduced himself as an intermediary.
"Hello, Mr. Layne. I've heard a lot about you."
Jasper reached out to shake Vita's hand with a smile.
Vita was a thin and highly capable man in his early 40s, and it is evident that he had heard of Jasper on his way here from John.
ICBS is the first of the country's top four major banks, and as a senior branch executive in financial centers like Waterhoof City, Vita has seen all parts of the wealthy businessman. It can be said that Vita's clients are all the elites of society.
Still, Vita could not help the light in her eyes the first time she saw Jasper.
After all, Jasper was still too young. The wealthy businessmen Vita met every day were all in their 40s and 50s.
If one wanted to start over and amass a fortune of billions of Someric Dollars, it would take the average person a decade or two, if lucky. Getting rich overnight is a rare thing that only exists in myths and novels.
However, Jasper was different from all the other wealthy businessmen he had met. Jasper is young and polite. Instead of being a businessman, Vita felt Jasper looked more like a student from a learned family.
Vita reached out to shake Jasper's outstretched hand and replied, "You are a promising young man, Mr. Laine. I couldn't believe it when John told me that there was such an amazing person. I almost thought that he was cheating just to make me come."
Jasper smile. "You're too kind, Mr. Layne. I just realized how similar our surnames are. No wonder I felt a sense of familiarity the first time I saw you, Mr. Layne. How about we sit down to talk?"
At the same time on the highway back to Waterhoof City, Lan felt a huge internal conflict triggered by Jasper's direct comments. Meanwhile, the man in question was engrossed in chatting with Vita, unaware of the effect of her speech.
