As if feeling Charlie's uneasiness, Dawson smiled. "You don't need to be too polite, even though this is the first time we meet, we'll soon be family, you're older than me, so I'll treat you as my brother and call you Charlie, Charlie, you can do the same."
Seeing how relaxed a rich man like Dawson was, Charlie instantly liked the man and chuckled. "Then I'll call you Dawson, because I'm older than you."
"Well, this must be my sister-in-law, then?" Dawson
turned to smile at Sally and greeted her.
Seeing how their parents were talking cheerfully to each other, both Jasper and Wendy heaved a sigh of relief.
"You look beautiful today" Jasper told Wendy with a chuckle.
Wendy wore a pink faux fur coat today with a scarf around her white neck. Her choice of clothes made Wendy look more fresh and cheerful.
Wendy laughed. "You also look very handsome today."
The two families entered the villa with smiles on their faces, and Charlie looked at Jasper to ask him to take out a large box. Jasper then handed it to Dawson. "Uncle Schuler, my parents don't know what gift I'm going to get because this is the first time they've come, please enjoy our little offering."
Dawson. "You've come enough, what's with all this gift giving?"
"It's a rare item of father, 200-year-old wild ginseng," Wendy said as she stood beside him.
Dawson's expression changed. "200 years? what a treasure."
She opened the box in front of everyone, and inside the red gift box was a wild ginseng stem that stretched to over a meter in length, looking like she was pregnant.
"It's too much" Dawson turned to Charlie.
Charlie smiles. "The score doesn't matter, you're the one who told me not to be too polite."
Dawson did not protest and accepted the gift with a smile.
Lunch passed happily.
Both Dawson and Charlie drank alcohol, so the two went to their respective rooms to rest after lunch.
Thinking that it was just a call to greet, Jasper accepted it only to hear Sean's panicked tone echo through the speakers once the call was connected.
"Something has happened on location, Mr. Laine! Something happened on the spot!"
Jasper's eyebrows curled as he replied in a heavy tone, "What makes you so panicked? tell me what's going on slowly."
Hearing that, Wendy's expression turned serious as well.
Sean gulped several times over the phone as he forced himself to calm down, as he spoke again, in a very grim tone, "I just received news that a fire broke out at the site half an hour ago, firefighters are still trying to put out the fire but they've already taken five to six people off the site, they were all seriously injured and official personnel made an emergency rescue of them..."
Jasper was furious at what he heard and shouted, "What are the people in charge of that location doing? how many times have I told them it's New Year and while I understand everyone is trying to meet the deadline, we have to be careful! how can a fire occur at such a stage? and with five to six workers seriously injured?!"
Sean replied dejectedly, "We were very careful all this time, but it was strange how the fire started, starting from where the workers lived during lunch breaks when most of the workers were sleeping, it started too suddenly for anyone to get out on time."
"Where are you now?" Jasper suppressed his anger and asked.
"On the way to the construction site," Sean replied in a panic.
"Get there as soon as possible and focus on calming the workers, you have to take control of the situation and don't let the news leak first, I'll be there soon."
Jasper then hung up.
"The location of the construction is on fire, Jasp?" Wendy asked worriedly.
Jasper nodded and replied grimly, "We still don't know exactly what happened, but there are already five to six of them seriously injured. There may be more people inside but we haven't found it yet, I have to go, wait for my news here."
"Should I wake my father?" ask Wendy.
Jasper shook his head. "He drank quite a lot at lunch, so let him rest, I'll handle this."
Jasper then informs Julian and darts towards the construction site.
