Unconsciously, Jasper's achievements had surpassed his own.
Dawson was both amazed and pleased. It seemed like the heavens had not treated him too badly as they had given birth to a perfect future son-in-law like Jasper to his side.
Jasper laughs. "Actually, I used some cheating tricks. I can only use immoral methods because I want to defeat him effectively in a short period of time. Unfortunately, it was a bad plan, so there's nothing to be proud of" he said.
Nevertheless, Dawson shook his head and said, "You're wrong. Regardless of the method you use, the only criterion that determines success is the ability to achieve your goals."
"All winners reach the top by stepping over the corpses of those they have defeated. When that happens, people will only see their brilliant glory. Not many people bother looking at their past."
Jasper nodded. Just as he was about to say something, a middle-aged man walked into the restaurant.
The man glanced at the table where Jasper and Dawson were sitting, then immediately rushed towards them.
Jasper knows this guy. It was Chris Quarles. He seemed familiar with Dawson at the industry forum a while back.
"Dawson, did you hear the news?!"
Chris sat at their table with a surprised look on his face. He turned to face Dawson and spoke directly.
"Sebastian Walker is destroyed!"
Dawson laughs. "Did everyone know?" She asked.
Chris smacked his thigh and said, "How can such a big problem be hidden from us? Sebastian Walker said he wanted to hold another meeting today to determine industry standards and details regarding the board's chairman election."
"Unfortunately, we waited a long time, but he did not appear. After that, we received news about the closure of all Kaymaroon supermarkets. The news also says that many suppliers and private loan companies are looking for Sebastian Walker!"
Chris' eyes glazed over in admiration. He lowered his voice and said, "You guys probably don't know about this. It is rumored that Sebastian offended a powerful man. That man was the one who caused him to go bankrupt."
After hearing Jasper's question, Chris spoke in an older tone, "We don't know either. We only heard that he was a very powerful person whose authority extended to the ends of the world. Thinking of it, if he didn't have a strong background, how could he destroy Kaymaroon in just a few days' time?"
"That's why young people like you should be more humble and not stand out on the outside. Don't take anyone's side, because you'll never know if the person you're hurting has the support of someone strong. At that time, you won't even have a chance to feel regret. Did you hear what I said, young man?"
Just as Jasper was about to say something, Julian walked into the restaurant. "Mr Laine, Hector Combe is here. He wanted to ask if you were interested in Kaymaroon. If you're interested, he can get Kaymaroon completely and give it to you as a gift" she told Jasper in a soft voice.
Jasper pondered for a moment. "Should I give you a gift?" He asked Dawson with a smile.
Jasper didn't wait for Dawson to give him an answer. He lifted a piece of tissue and wiped his mouth. After which, he got up and spoke to Chris, who was sitting with a dumbfounded expression engraved on his face. "There's something I have to do, Mr. Quarles, so I'll go first. Your advice is very accurate. I'll make sure to always remember it" he said.
After speaking, Jasper followed in Julian's footsteps. They went to see Hector.
Chris felt like a fool afterwards. He sat there and stared blankly into space for some time. He then turned to look at Dawson, who was slowly enjoying his breakfast, with great difficulty. "That's Jasp" he said slowly.
"He's the one who does everything" Dawson chuckled. He was happy to see the expression on Chris' face now. "It's a blessing to have such a capable future son-in-law" he said complacently.
Cring cring cring. Chris and Dawson's cell phones ring together.
They picked up their phones. They both got the same message from the person across the phone at the end of the call.
Sebastian Walker committed suicide by jumping off a building.
He had breathed his last breath by the time people found his body.
Chris's mind was buzzing. He imagined Jasper's kind and warm face in his mind. He felt like he had just come face to face with God without even realizing it.
"I've lived my life in vain!"
